A life of compassion

Astrologers speak of rebirth and the common people believe in it. The soul and heart remain, while the body gets changed like a costume, in a play. If this thought is true, people should work towards being wealthy, not in monetary terms but in feelings. Feelings of compassion, love and generosity, which used to flow from people’s hearts like a river, have now frozen.
A man may have millions of dollars in his Swiss bank account but he gets poorer than a beggar on the street, when he denies his presence and walks away. The person belonging to a hands-to-mouth family will feel wealthier than Bill Gates, if he parts with his share of daily meal and obligates the beggar. This materialistic world of ours, which revolves around gold, platinum and silver, hinders the sight and shine of a pure heart.
A preacher may preach about feelings of compassion but a layman feels them. He becomes a greater explorer of the insights of the world because he is not confined to the four walls, a profession offers. The happiness he receives in living a life of compassion encompasses the phase of living against all odds!
